Food for Thought – Wedding Food Ideas

Here at I Do, we take food very seriously, and choosing your wedding catering is no easy job! That’s why we’ve come up with some top ideas to help feed you and your guests on your wedding day.

Street Food

Many couples in 2019 and 2020 don’t want a sit down meal, and instead are opting for street food and mobile food trucks for their food fare. We’re seeing a lot of converted horse boxes serving everything from fish and chips to cheese toasties.

Grazing Tables

This is like the new version of your traditional buffet. Grazing tables have been around a few years, but this rise in popularity is tipping them to be the runaway trend of the new wedding season. Get those meats and cheeses ready!

Interactive Drinks stations

No longer just served to the guests, this wedding season we’re seeing make your own cocktail stations, so the guests can both be entertained and have a tipple too!

Make your own

Carrying on with the interactivity theme, many weddings are choosing to have make your own food stations where wedding guests can get stuck in. Smores are a great way of gathering your guests round a campfire to make a hot and sweet dessert that will bring back happy memories, and create new ones at the same time. Tacos also lend themselves well to the idea of interactivity, so you can add as much guacamole as you like and no one can tell you otherwise!

Late Night Snack

For those weddings that start super early, the food from the reception can seem like a lifetime away at 10:30 at night when you’re a little sleepy but the party is still in full swing. Coffee bars are a great idea to perk (and sober up) some of your wedding guests, so they can party till the early hours of the morning.

You can even incorporate some of your favourite late-night snacks into the evening, such as pizza, popcorn or even an ice-cream bar! That’ll wake your guests up!

Edible Décor Displays

As well as the doughnut walls that we see a lot at our wedding exhibitions, wedding catering is being incorporated into décor, with examples of grab-a-glass prosecco walls, macaron towers and crafted canape towers. Food is definitely part of the decoration at weddings this season.
