There are a few surprises with Bridal Trends 2024. It’s clear that weddings are bigger and better than ever, especially with designers pushing the envelope in their collections to take their bridal wear to the next level.
Tea Length
For those brides who are less traditional in their bridal look, a tea length dress offers a sophisticated look without the hassle of a floor length gown. Practical and pretty, this dress style is perfect. Designers Markarian and Elie Saab include tea length dresses in their collections. This is a great one to kick off bridal trends.
Lace Necklines
Not a fan of showing off a deep neckline? Add a modesty lace panel in the front so you have the drama without the skin on show. Lace necklines in bridal wear are a great way of elevating a gown so it gives off a more demure vibe. Designers like Justin Alexander are giving a nod to the 80’s with their use of lace in their collections.
Drop-Waist Gowns
We’re seeing drop-waist gowns all throughout the runways this season, bringing the vintage bridal look back and better than ever. Accentuating your curves, designers like Davids Bridal and Markarian have jumped on the drop waist trend to offer a modern twist on this fabulous bridal aesthetic.
Trends For the
Unconventional Bride...
Gold/Colourful Gowns
We’re throwing tradition out the window with this one as more brides are choosing a coloured gown for their wedding day. And we’re talking bold colour! Think bright reds, blues and greens. Additionally, gold is another popular colour choice this season with bridal designer Ines Di Santo who showcases stunning golden hues in their collections. Be ready to see Gold all throughout 2024.
3D Florals
Florals are still in and trendier than ever. 3D Floral gowns are staying the course of popularity and are yet again popular among bridal collections. Floral appliques add feminine texture to the dress; and they’re also being added to gloves and veils for added flower power.
Bridal Suits
This trend is back and more popular than ever. Bridal suits can be worn for the ceremony and then an outfit change can bring in the wedding gown and vice versa. Designers Pronovias and Marylise both showcase bridal suits in their latest collections, with the addition of glittering lapels and pleated fabrics to feminise the look. Bridal suits are definitely a trend to watch.
More Trends for 2024...
Corset Bodices
This season corset bodices have been modernised further. Sheer corsets are still in fashion but are being brought right up to date with the addition of floral accents and beading. Justin Alexander is among designers championing the corset in his latest collection.
Separates & Outfit Changes
Separates are a BIG trend for the 2024 season. Some could say the biggest. Many brides are being encouraged to include an outfit change during their wedding day festivities, because they want to be more comfortable during nighttime events. Designers are in on this trend by offering detachable sleeves and overskirts to reveal a minidress underneath or even a dress that totally transforms to create a brand new look.
Accessories
Chokers and hats are big in designer collections this season, with Chanel and Galia Lahav in particular opting for bowtie and floral chokers in their latest collections. Other designers have included headwear in their collections, with white fedoras being a common favourite making a great addition to a boho style dress. Certainly, brides are getting really experimental with their accessories in 2024, so do not be afraid to step outside tradition.
Capes
This is definitely worth a mention as it featured in a few bridal collections. We’re seeing glittering capes, detailed lace and sheer veil style capes as part of many bridal wear collections this season. They also offer an alternative to veils which add drama, shape and uniqueness. Capes are definitely a staple for bridal trends for 2024.
