Wakefield couple Katie and Adam got married at the beautiful 315 Bar and Restaurant on 1st October 2022.
Katie met Adam when she was 17; they both worked together and would go on nights out as colleagues. The pair got together and after 13 years, Adam finally plucked up the courage to propose.
On Christmas Day morning 2020, after the children had opened their presents and run off to play, Adam popped the question. ‘I was putting the wrapping paper in a bin liner and he was down on one knee in front of the christmas tree, it was lovely’, Katie remembers.
The newly engaged couple began planning their wedding right away; after waiting so long it’s easy to understand why! Katie says, ‘ We set a date straight away, I’d waited so long and thought there’s no chance he’s getting away with this now, so I ran with it’.
The pair found it hard to plan their wedding initially as they were planning during lockdown in January 2021, so did plenty of research online instead. They found 315 Bar and Restaurant and contacted them, ‘we loved the location, the venue and it fit with our budget, so they agreed to pencil in a date for us’, Katie said. When they were able to travel, the couple visited 315 and put a deposit down immediately.
‘We saw it and knew it was it’, Katie remembers. After looking at other places online, the couple had planned to visit more venues but when they saw 315 they knew they wanted to do it there.
am said they had no real issues to deal with. Katie had her wedding planner organiser filled with fabric swatches, invite samples and more to stay on track. ‘I had a bridal coaching call with a woman, she was all about the positive mindset and said it’s your day and you control the stress around it.’
The only stressful time came in the last 8 weeks when the couple was pulling everything together.
The wedding theme was natural and understated, with hessian table runners and chair sashes and a colour scheme of greenery and white. Bridesmaids wore olive green gowns and the stationery featured greenery to tie in with the theme.
And the wedding day?
‘It was amazing, best day of my life’ Katie says.
The bride got ready at home with her daughter, mum and bridesmaids. It was a wonderful relaxed morning, with champagne flowing surrounded by family
and friends.
Katie and Adam’s son got ready with Adam at 315. ‘It was such a happy blissful day and now I couldn’t imagine doing it without the kids’, Katie says. ‘Our daughter kept calling it her wedding’.
Katie wore an exclusive designer dress from Nory Ivy at Dotty Bridal; then had it altered so it fit better with her dream wedding look.
During the speeches Katie surprised everyone with a poem about the couple and how they got together. ‘To see everyone so happy and the looks of happiness on their faces, it was just lovely to feel so loved. Everyone was a part of the day’, Katie says.
The happy couple had a magician as part of their festivities, who took the children off during the speeches and performed a superhero magic show.
The evening was finished off with a rave in the and the best cheesy dancing you
could imagine.
Katie and Adam can’t sing the praises of 315 Bar and Restaurant high enough, ‘The coordinator Nicola was wonderful to work with, nothing was too much trouble for her to organise. The communication from the venue was brilliant and the guests commented on how amazing the food tasted. It’s the best food I’ve ever eaten at a wedding. From start to finish the whole thing was seamless.’
When asked if they’d give other couples any advice, Katie said, ‘It’s your day, don’t let anyone influence your choices and just take it all in, take your time on the day, don’t let the day whizz by, experience it all fully.’
