A meeting on a Caribbean cruise set happy couple Faye and Daniel on course for a beautiful wedding day.

The newlyweds, who live in Doncaster, South Yorkshire with their little boy Jenson and dog Bella, met at the other side of the world. Faye was with her mum on a girly holiday cruise, and Daniel was on holiday with his whole family. Both groups met up together whilst away and became friends; ‘Dan gave me his number on the last day and said do what you want with it’, Faye said. When she landed at Manchester airport, she sent him a text with her number.

Fast forward to their first date at Piccolinos in Sheffield and the pair were inseparable.

After 3 years together, Dan felt it was time to pop the question, with another family cruise holiday to be the backdrop. During the formal evening aboard the cruise, whilst Dan and Faye were having their photos taken, Dan proposed. ‘He did it in front of the photographer and all our families, it was a total surprise!’, Faye remembers. She commented how Dan’s mum knew about the proposal and was trying to sort Faye’s hair out before the photos.

Following their engagement, the couple waited a few years while Faye kickstarted her hairdressing business. Then the couple had a baby boy called Jenson which put the planning back further.

When the wedding planning started, it went pretty smoothly for the happy couple. Faye says she did most of the planning and feels a little lost now it’s all over and done with. ‘I found it quite stressful towards the end, tying up all those loose ends’, Faye recalls. They booked their wedding 20 months in advance, so had plenty of time to plan.

When asked how they chose the Peak Edge Hotel as their venue, Faye said, ‘we’d seen it online a few times and few of our friends had gotten married there, we just loved the outside set up as we’d had our heart set on getting married outside’.

The Peak Edge was the second venue the couple went too and was the first one that Dan said he liked. ‘It was in the middle of the local lockdowns so we couldn’t travel out of the area, when we finally went to look round, we booked it 2 days after we saw it. It was modern but also had class too’, Faye says.

For their wedding colour scheme, Faye and Dan went for classic black, white and golds. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos and the bridesmaids were in champagne gowns; elegant and classy. Faye’s wedding gown had a detachable skirt for a day to night look. It featured a fitted low back v neck with lace edging at the bottom and beading at the top. The overskirt was sheer and detached to reveal a stunning satin gown.

Their wedding day was blessed with perfect weather with clear blue skies. ‘It was the icing on the cake because we got to get married outside’, Faye said.

Faye and Dan sat at an intimate sweetheart top table, where they could look at all their guests and take it in. Faye said, ‘I never like to be the centre of attention personally, but it was like WOW everyone’s here for us, this day is about us’.

Faye commented on how brilliant the team at Peak Edge were; ‘Laura who looked after us, she was just amazing from start to finish and we couldn’t’ have done it without her. She was the one that called me down and all the staff were brilliant. The attention to detail was second to none; they couldn’t have been any better if they’d tried. Every time you’d send an email, they’d reply within minutes. The accommodation was also brilliant; we didn’t make it down to breakfast, but everyone said how amazing it was!’

Their wedding entertainment for the evening reception was The Undercover Waiters, a real shock to all their guests and a real party starter! The couple also had Saxophonist Cat on the Sax who DJ’d during the reception drinks. Faye wanted to give a shout out to Marie Anson photography; ‘she was extra incredible and coordinated the day so well’.

We asked the couple what advice they’d give to other couples; Faye said, ‘Try and plan a lot more as a couple together. I did it all on my own. Make it about you as a couple, don’t get too stressed about it, and on the day, try and have 10 minutes just to have a breather and take it all in’.
